A fine two day marine chronometer in a brass strung coromandel box with signed silvered dial Whyte Thompson, Glasgow No. 5251. Original gold hour and minute hands with subsidiary dials for seconds and state of wind. The spotted movement with cut bimetallic balance and blued steel helical balance spring and Earnshaw-type spring detent. The 3-tier coromandel case with the interior mounted with rouched velvet. The mid section with 19th century label from A. Johannsen 149 Minories London and mother of pearl nameplate, the lower section with inset handles.
