A very pretty satinwood balloon mantel timepiece with 4 inch white enamel dial signed Gorham Kensington with Arabic numerals. The eight day single fusee movement with anchor escapement signed on the backplate Gorham Kensington with pendulum holdfast. The satinwood case has tulipwood cross banding with boxwood and ebony stringing and a brass bezel with convex glass and stands on brass bracket feet.

James Gorham was a clockmaker to the Royal Family and had a shop at No. 5 Kensington High Street almost directly opposite the gates of Kensington Palace.
