Hanson, Windsor
Mahogany drop dial wall timepiece. The 12 inch convex painted dial with Roman hour numerals signed Hanson, Windsor. Fine blued steel hands. The very narrow wood surround with cast brass bezel has a convex glass, lock and key. The trunk below the dial is veneered in highly figured mahogany with brass stringing and small shaped ears. The flame veneer continues below an ebonised moulding where the case curves to the wall, with an opening door to access the pendulum. The movement is a high quality eight day fusee with an anchor escapement.

George Hanson worked in Windsor between 1784-1823 and supplied clocks to the Royal family. The Royal Collection at Windsor Castle has many clocks by Hanson, including three wall clocks.
