Fine Geo III mahogany bow fronted stick barometer, signed on the silvered dial Ramsden London.

Finely figured mahogany case with bowed stepped pediment and ebony urn finial, ebony urn cistern cover flanked by ebony inlaid bands to the canted sides.

Jesse Ramsden was one of the greatest scientific instrument makers in the latter half of the eighteenth century and a Fellow of the Royal Society. It was regarded that to own an instrument made by Jesse Ramsden, was to own an instrument of incredible accuracy and practical use, but also a thing of beauty.
