Simmons, Coleman St, London. No.2384

Regency mahogany quarter striking domestic regulator. The round painted dial signed Simmons Coleman St. London with Roman hour numerals and seconds dial. Strike/silent facility above XII. Blued steel spade hands. The high quality eight day six pillar movement with very substantial shaped plates numbered 2384. Vulliamy type dead beat escapement and Harrisons' maintaining power. Striking the quarters on eight bells and the hours on a further bell. Rare bamboo rod pendulum suspended from the backboard with large brass lenticular bob and silvered calibrated rating nut, brass cased weights. Silvered engraved beat scale mounted on the backboard. The elegant figured mahogany case with with chamfer top top, ripple cornice mouldings, glazed side panels and canted angles. Flame figured mahogany trunk door flanked by canted sides, mouldings to the base with a single plinth.
